DOHA: As part of effort to highlight the pressing need for primary education for all, Educate A Child (EAC) officially launched a new book at the Unesco headquarters in Paris.
Challenges and Reality contains a new collection of images of out-of-school children from photojournalist Maher Attar. EAC commissioned the book as a means of drawing attention to the world’s children who have not had their right to a primary education fulfilled despite the promise of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). ‘The stirring photo reportage in the book delves into many barriers children face around the world in accessing primary education,” said Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, who introduced the book on behalf of Education Above All (EAA).
“Through seeing, we can better understand the importance of the work we are doing — and why there is a sense of urgency to maintain focus,” he added.
The launch coincides with the adoption of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which set post-2015 global development agenda, including a commitment to finish the push to provide primary education for all.
