Doha: Qatar national team signed off with four wins at the 44th Chess Olympiad, held in Chennai, India.
Al Annabi were ranked 145th out of 188 countries.
Qatar defeated Djibouti, Bolivia, Papua New Guinea and Saint Lucia, while losing to Denmark, Finland, Iraq, South Korea, Japan, Guatemala and the Maldives.
Qatar's participation in the Olympiad was mainly aimed at gaining to experience by playing against major players in addition to increasing the individual rankings of players.
On the other hand, Qatar's international referee Youssef Al Mahasna, who excelled during the Olympiad, expressed his happiness for being able to officiate in the Olympiad after the invitation he received from the International Chess Federation.
India’s organisation of the global event showed its success in all respects. Al Mahasna extended his thanks and appreciation to the Qatar Chess Federation, headed by Muhammad Al Mudahka, for providing the opportunity to participate in this major tournament.
