DOHA: Street Madness, an entertainment event featuring a mini-football league, will be held tomorrow at Al Gharrafa Sports Club as part of Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) 2016 organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).
Social media influencers and celebrities from around the region will lead the competing teams.
The first team will be led by @Bogatti, a stand-up comedian known for his ‘Short and Chubby’ routine which he performed in San Diego. Another team will be led by Shuaib Rashed (@sh3aib), host and producer of Swar Shuaib, a YouTube talk show focused on showcasing diversity in Arab society.
@IbrahimBasha, MBC presenter, actor, film-maker and stand-up comedian will be captain of a third team while Muhanad Al Harbi (@muhannaddesign), a comic widely followed for his humorous videos on Instagram on Snapchat, will lead another.
To entertain the audience between the football matches, short performances will take place featuring artists and comedians including rapper Qusai, artist Hajar Al Muteiri, and comedy band Al Sheyab, known for performing modern routines while dressed up as old men in traditional Khaliji garments.
Street Madness is an event for the whole family. Children of six years and above will be allowed entry. Tickets can be bought on Virgin Megastores’ website and in stores for prices ranging from QR25 to QR250. Doors open at 4pm. Meanwhile, Doha Comedy Festival, another QSF feature, will be held from August 18 to 20 at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The three-day event brings together 18 top comedians from around the region. Tickets ranging from QR145 to QR1,000 are available at Virgin Megastore.
Now in its third edition, the annual Festival is organised by QTA to re-energise hospitality and retail sectors in collaboration with its partners in the private sector.
Other festival features include the Entertainment City which runs until end of the month at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre as well as shopping and hotel promotions.
