Ramallah: Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa discussed on Wednesday with the newly appointed EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, Christophe Bigot, the recent developments and efforts to reach a ceasefire and end the ongoing Israeli genocidal war against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The meeting focused on supporting and ensuring the success of the upcoming International Peace Conference to be hosted next week by the United Nations in New York, and the importance of translating its outcomes into concrete steps to stop the war on Gaza, end the occupation, realize a sovereign and independent Palestinian state, and achieve long-term political and economic stability.

The Palestinian Prime Minister underscored the urgent need for increased European pressure on Israel to release withheld Palestinian funds and to cease all illegal deductions from the Palestinian clearance revenues.

For his part, the EU diplomat Bigot emphasized the importance of joint efforts to create a political horizon based on the realization of the two-state solution.

He reaffirmed the EU’s rejection of Israeli annexation plans and settler attacks and stressed the need to secure and sustain the ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the entry of humanitarian aid as a prelude to recovery and reconstruction.
