Doha, Qatar: As part of its efforts to improve and raise the level of social work, Qatar Foundation for Social Work participated in the European Social Conference, held in collaboration with the International Federation of Social Work in the Czech Republic. This participation complements a series of efforts of the Foundation to build relationships with social work organizations in various European countries in the field of social work.
The International Federation of Social Work (IFSW) is the global body for the profession of social workers, aspiring to achieve social justice, human rights, and comprehensive and sustainable social development by promoting best practices, engagement in international cooperation, and supporting its members by providing a global voice for the profession.
The IFSW is granted a Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and Unicef. Furthermore, the IFSW works with the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
In this context, the Foundation team presented a paper highlighting the role of information technology and the Internet in improving the work of social workers in the Foundation and its centres.
The paper also focused on the importance of adopting the latest technology means to make the Foundation’s services more effective and inclusive.
