DOHA: Israr smashed a thrilling 58 not out to set up an eight-wicket victory for Punishers XI Club against Kerala Eleven in the final of the T20 Division B cricket tournament.
Taking advantage of the conditions, Punishers XI Club limited Kerala Eleven at 123 for seven in the 16th over.
Shani, managed the top score of 34 not out.
Anas made 27 and Shyam chipped in with 26. Ramsin and Yasir removed two players each during their innings, while Israr and Murad grabbed one wicket each.
Punishers XI Club secured the title in the 15.1 over as Israr and Bilal (35) scored the crucial runs. Shani and Faizer were the only bowlers for Kerala Eleven to get a wicket each.
The tournament was organised by the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA). After the final, QCA General Secretary Manzoor Ahmad gave away the prizes.
Also present for the ceremony were: Gul Mohammad Khan Jadoon (Head of Domestic Cricket), Syed Hassan Raza, Amin Ul Islam, Shamsudin, Shashi Patra, Mohammad Jahangir, Jamshaid Ahmad, Mohammad Nawas and Abdul Rehman (coach).
Ahmad congratulated both winners and hoped the other teams would put on an improved show next time in their bid to reach the final.
