Over 670 building permits issued in Dec

Doha: The number of building permits issued in December by municipalities in Qatar stood at 672, a decrease of 16 percent compared to the previous month, data released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) showed.

The PSA in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality released the 84th issue of the monthly Statistics of Building Permits and Building Completion certificates issued by all municipalities in the country.

According to their geographical distribution, the municipality of Al Rayyan topped the list of the municipalities with 186 permits issued (28 percent of total issued permits), while the municipality of Al Wakrah came in second place with 169 permits (25 percent), followed by the municipalities of Al Doha with 111 permits (17 percent) and Al Da’ayen with 100 permits (15 percent). The rest of the municipalities were: Umm Salal with 45 permits (7 percent), Al Khor with 28 permits (4 percent), Al Sheehaniya with 23 permits (3 percent), and Al Shammal with 10 permits (1 percent).

In terms of type of permits issued, data indicated that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitute 55 percent (367 permits) of the total building permits issued in December 2021, while the percentage of additions permits stood at 42 percent (279 permits), and fencing permits with 4 percent (26 permits).

In December, the decrease in building permits issued was noted in the municipalities of Um Slal (43 percent), Al Da’ayen (42 percent), Al Shammal (33 percent), Al Doha and Al Khor (15 percent each municipality), and Al Rayyan (10 percent). On the other hand, an increase was seen in the municipalities of Al Sheehaniya (44 percent) and Al Wakrah (12 percent).

By analysing new residential buildings permits data, it was found that villas topped the list, accounting for 69 percent (166 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans permits by 19 percent (46 permits) and apartments buildings by 10 percent (25 permits).

On the other hand, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings permits accounting for 71 percent (90 permits), followed by industrial buildings such as workshops and factories with 14 percent (18 permits), and governmental buildings by 6 percent (8 certificates).

 In terms of building completion certificates issued in December 2021, Al Doha municipality topped the list of the municipalities with 69 certificates issued (23 percent of total issued certificates), while municipality of Al Rayyan came in second place with 68 certificates (23 percent), followed by the municipalities of Al Wakrah with 60 certificates (20 percent), and Al Da’ayen with 55 certificates (18 percent). The rest of the municipalities were: Um Slal with 30 certificates (10 percent), Al Khor with 8 certificates (3 percent), Al Shammal with 7 certificates (2 percent), and Al Sheehaniya with 1 certificate (0.3 percent).

In terms of type of certificates issued, data indicated that the new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constitute 63 percent (188 certificates) of the total building certificates issued in December 2021, while the percentage of additions certificates stood at 37 percent (110 certificates).
