Ooredoo and MoneyGram announced yesterday that Ooredoo Money customers can now send money directly to any bank account in India with MoneyGram via the Ooredoo Money Wallet.

With the new service, customers with an Ooredoo Money Wallet can transfer money to any bank account in India 24/7.

To celebrate the new service launch, Ooredoo and MoneyGram have announced a special promotion valid until February 13, 2018 to give every customer sending money to a bank account in India a QR10 cash-back reward per transaction.

To send money, Ooredoo customers must register for an Ooredoo Wallet via the USSD menu (*140#) or the “Ooredoo Money” app.

According to World Bank’s estimates, in 2017 India will remain the largest remittance receiving country, with an estimated $65.4bn inflows. The majority of the transfers flowed from the Middle East region with Qatar sending an estimated $4.3bn.

Manar Khalifa Al Muraikhi, Ooredoo Director of PR and Corporate Communications, said: “We’re delighted to once again be working with MoneyGram to provide Qatar residents a simpler, easier and more secure way to send money to their loved ones at home.”

Paul Hanley, MoneyGram’s regional head, GCC & Levant Regions, said: “This new bank deposit service is a part of MoneyGram’s commitment to drive financial inclusion globally through its reliable and innovative money transfers. One of the key pillars of MoneyGram’s strategy is to offer omni-channel money transfer solutions. Expansion of the bank deposit service plays an important role in the ongoing transformation of Indian economy towards less cash dependency and driving financial inclusion in the region.”
