DOHA: Qatar Fuel (Woqod), the local petroleum products distributor, yesterday opened its latest service station in Thakhira  in Al Khor, taking its total count to 28 stations, as part of the company’s expansion plans that seek to grow its network of service stations in Qatar.
The new station was inaugurated in the presence of Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani, Chairman, Woqod,  Ibrahim Al Kuwari, CEO, Woqod,  board members, senior management team and guests from diverse business sectors.
The station includes three fuelling islands with six dispensers. It will offer round-the-clock services to Al Khor and Ras Laffan communities, including Sidra convenience store, oil change, auto and manual car wash facilities, auto repair and purchase of a wide range of fuel products such as lubes and LPG cylinders.
Al Kuwari said: “We are continuing with our ambitious expansion plans to reach and serve each and every neighbourhood in Qatar.
“The launch of Thakhira station will help us address the growing demand for more stations across Qatar, in line with the expected population growth over the next few years.
“We are committed to further enhancing our operational capabilities and providing value added and best-in-class services and products to our customers, within the vicinity of their homes and offices.”  This is the fifth new opening completed by Woqod this year with earlier opening of Al Lagthafiya, Al Wakrah, Wajba and Lijimiliya stations.
Woqod’s expansion strategy seeks to increase the total number of stations to 100 by 2019, given land availability by authorities.
Twelve 12 service stations are under construction and expected to open by 2015-end and early 2016.
