DOHA: The Ministry of Labour has opened a branch office in Al Khor and its priority is to amicably settle disputes between private sector workers and their employers. Only those disputes that cannot be settled amicably after repeated effort are to be referred to the labour court.
The labour ministry’s Al Khor office will receive grievances of workers against companies like delayed payment of salaries, denial of air tickets and end-of-service benefits. Some 80 percent of the disputes between the workers and their employers (private companies) are being settled amicably at the main office of the labor department in Doha. The Al Khor office will also receive applications for the visas of foreign workers and attest work contracts and certificates.
