Qatar University (QU) Library obtained the ISO 9001:2015 certificate accreditation of globally recognised quality management standards as of August 2021 by Qatar University Accreditation Committee.
The library obtained this certificate after passing five stages, including a comprehensive and intensive auditing process that demonstrated the compliance of QU’s library with internationally recognized standards according to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The international accreditation certificate obtained by the library is a significant step in the administrative development to raise the quality of exceptional and innovative services and supply them with the best practices of international management standards. This achievement comes in line with Qatar University’s strategy and plans. In this context, Asma Al-Buainain, Acting Director of Qatar University Library, said: “This achievement is a strong motivation to provide the best services by the teamwork and to the contributor for providing all the scientific needs and references. I highly commend the hard work of all the library staff on this achievement.”
Sheikha Maryam Al Thani, Head of the Reference and Information Services Department, said: “We are proud of this achievement, and this confirms the library’s keenness to provide services at a high academic and educational level that parallels the prestigious universities in the country. We confirm that this achievement could not have been achieved without fruitful cooperation with the library staff, which is always keen to improve the quality of their services, to increase the satisfaction of customers, employees and the university community as a whole.”
Sarah Al Yafei, Planning and Coordination Specialist and one of the main members of the Accreditation Committee, said: “The Qatar University Library’s adoption of ISO certification standards reflects its desire to achieve the greatest level of professionalism in the performance of its academic tasks and services, as well as to keep up with the university environment in the best way possible.”
