MANAMA: A fashion show featuring traditional Korean costumes with the aim to bring the far east Asian country's culture closer to Bahrain will be held here next month.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea Charge d'Affaires in Manama, Yu Joonha said the embassy will host the fashion show on October 23, according to a Bahrain News Agency (BNA) report Tuesday.
"The fashion show will be an attempt to bring Korean culture closer to Bahrain and Hanbok, the traditional Korean dress, will be the highlight of the show," the charge d’ affaires told BNA.
The show, to held in co-operation with Ministry of Culture, is part of the South Korean national day celebrations.
The embassy will also host a weeklong South Korean film festival.
"With these two events we hope to give an insight into South Korea for the people of Bahrain.
It is hoped that this will open new vistas in tourism and encourage more Bahrainis to travel to Seoul and other areas," he added.
Bahrainis can travel to South Korea without a visa for 30 days visit.
After the 30 days are over, they can extend their stay to 90 days on payment of a nominal amount.
South Korea and Bahrain have a two-way trade volume of close to $1 billion a year.
Following the recent visit of the Prime Minister of South Korea Jung Hong-won to Bahrain.
A joint commission is to be established to look into how bilateral trade between the two countries could be increased.
The commission will discuss methods to enhance bilateral trade, the BNA report added. (QNA)
