Doha: Tickets go on sale today at Virgin Megastores for two live musical shows in the last week of Qatar Summer Festival, organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).
Renowned Syrian artist Asala Nasry and up-and-coming Moroccan star Saad Lamjared will perform on August 28 at Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah arena near Al Sadd Sports Club, which seats up to 7,700 spectators. Fans with a taste for Gulf tunes can buy tickets for the preceding concert on August 27, featuring performances by half-Yemeni, half-Emirati artist Balqis Fathy and popular Saudi artist Rabeh Saqr. Ticket prices for the shows, which begin at 9pm range between QR199 and QR1,499. Doors open at 7pm and special seating areas reserved for women only will be available.
“We are thrilled to have secured such a star-studded line-up of singers, popular all around the Arab world. Our aim is to cater to visitors and residents seeking culture and entertainment in a family-friendly environment suitable for all ages,” said Mashal Shahbik, Festivals and Events Manager, QTA.
The shows will come at the conclusion of the month-long festival, which will also host Doha Comedy Day, featuring a group of stand-up comedy pioneers from across the Gulf. The comedians include Bader Saleh, Ibrahim Khairallah, Fahd Al Butairi, Ahmed Al Shammari and Ali Al Sayed. The event will be hosted by Qatari comedian Hamad Al Ammari.
The festival runs until August 31 and targets visitors from around the GCC with a range of entertainment activities for families in a festive, safe environment that reflects their culture and heritage.
This year’s edition is expected to drive up inbound tourism numbers with new attractions, special hotel rates and weekly raffle draws with prizes.
