DOHA: Football giants Al Rayyan and Lekhwiya will clash in the Sheikh Jassim Cup final on September 12, details showed yesterday.
Al Rayyan, winners of the Qatar Stars League (QSL), dominated the regular season.
Lekhwiya won the Emir Cup in May. The winners of these two events contested the one-off match Sheikh Jassim Cup final.
This year’s Sheikh Jassim Cup will launch the football season in Qatar which will end next May.
The new QSL season will commence on September 17.
Meanwhile, Al Rayyan, QSL champions, will play four friendlies during their training camp in Spain, the club announced yesterday.
The training camp will be based in Valencia from July 28 to August 20, the club said.
The team’s training will be headed by coach Jorge Fossati.
The club is yet to unveil the team roster for the 2016-17 season.
Once the squad is announced, the players will assemble on July 16 prior to their departure for Spain.
