Doha: Tafawoq’s newly introduced course, Fundamentals of Project Management (FoPM), has been awarded international accreditation by the Association for Project Management (APM). The award allows the course participants to receive the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification once they pass the associated exam.
FoPM is an e-learning course designed to support participants with building a strong understanding of the basics of project management and introduces them to the terminologies, theories, principles, and practices necessary to support all types of projects.
This is Tafawoq’s third course to receive international accreditation from APM. Tafawoq’s Essentials of Project Management (EoPM) course was the first to be awarded this status, followed by the Managing Opportunity and Project Risk (MoPR) course. As a result, participants in these courses can achieve different levels of international accreditation following the APM Project Management Qualification.
The Association for Project Management (APM) is the only chartered body for the project profession, with over 30,000 individual members and more than 500 organisations participating in our Corporate Partnership Programme.
Earlier this year, Tafawoq collaborated with Texas A&M University at Qatar and offered the FoPM course to a diverse group of students representing, in addition to TAMU-Q, other prestigious universities like Georgetown University Qatar and Carnegie Mellon University Qatar. A total of 22 students were the first to acquire the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification successfully.
Tafawoq, a partnership between Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Shell, and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, offers the thriving project management community in Qatar, and the region, a unique set of training programmes designed to provide them with the right skills needed to support the development and execution of capital investment projects.
With an alumnus of over 1,800 project professionals, Tafawoq has made great strides since its inauguration in 2012.
Commenting on this success, Bader Al Jaidah, Tafawoq’s Director, said, “I am very proud of receiving the third accreditation by APM. It is a testimony of Tafawoq’s growing reputation as a key player in preparing the local talent to support our country’s National Vision 2030.
Through our professional programmes, our participants are able to acquire the essential leadership and project management skills necessary to contribute effectively to Qatar’s sustainable growth.”
