Doha: Qatar Museums has launched several events and activities catering to a wide array of interests and artistic passions, to be hosted across its cultural institutions throughout March. 

“Members of the community can look forward to a range of culturally enriching programmes designed to promote creativity and take art beyond four walls,” Qatar Museums said in a press release. 

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art

Story Time for Families Mathaf
Every third Saturday of the month from 10 am -11.30 am
A monthly activity for children four to nine years old and their families. You and your children can enjoy bilingual stories read in both English and Arabic. Explore the connections between art and storytelling by visiting Mathaf’s galleries, reading together, and taking part in hands-on learning activities.

World Book Day
20 March from 11 am -12 pm
World book day is an annual event celebrating the enjoyment of books and reading. The program will show children how to create their own book by writing and illustrating a book.

Curator-led tours of A Falcon's Eye: Photography
24 March, 6 pm - 7 pm
The 4th Floor Galleries have been hosting the Photography and Camera section of the A Falcon's Eye: Tribute to Sheikh Saoud exhibition. Join exhibition curator Dr Giles Hudson for an informal tour of the galleries and learn more about the fascinating art of photography and its early history as well as seeing some very unusual cameras! This is the last photography tour as the exhibition will close on 10 April.

Curator-led tours of A Falcon's Eye
30 March, 11 am - 12 pm
Join exhibition curator Dr Mounia Abudaya for this final tour of MIA's special exhibition, A Falcon's Eye: Tribute to Sheikh Saoud Al Thani. Sheikh Saoud was responsible for acquiring the foundation collections for many of the QM museums but as well as being an avid collector, he was also an environmentalist dedicated to saving rare species. Learn more about this amazing man and his passion for art and knowledge.

Virtual Field Trip for Students
Daily from Sunday to Wednesday, from 8 am - 12 pm via Zoom
Students can continue to experience NMoQ from the comfort of their classroom. These virtual guided tours are designed to be an engaging and culturally stimulating adventure. Schools can choose one of the following themes: The Formation of Qatar and Qatar’s Natural Environments, the Archaeology of Qatar, the People of Qatar or the Modern History of Qatar.
Virtual tours are delivered in Arabic, English, French, Italian, Chinese, Spanish, Turkish and German.

Sketching the Desert Rose
13 and 20 March from 9 am - 11 am
This workshop introduces participants to the skills of architectural drawing on location. Using the fantastical architecture of NMoQ as a source of inspiration, participants will walk around the building and sketch its different angles.
