Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has marked 38 million man-hours without Lost Time Accidents (LTA) in phase-X project for development and expansion of electricity network across the country. The project includes building power stations and laying cables. Kahramaa maintained high safety and security measures at its worksites for the safety of its employees and those affiliated to it.
The project was implemented by seven main contractors, three consultants and more than 3600 workers from Asia, Arab, Africa and Europe, said Kahramaa's President Eng Essa Bin Hilal Al Kuwari. It is a remarkable achievement of Kahramaa in creating a real safety culture. The project was implemented in a very tough work environment amid soaring temperature and humidity, said Al Kuwari.
He urged for maintaining this achievement by doing more efforts to safeguard workers and employees on worksites in all projects of Kahramaa.
The tender of phase-X project was floated in 2012. The project meant to expand the electricity network in Qatar including main power stations and laying cables.
Kahramaa employees and contracting companies involved in this project were honoured for their outstanding jobs and for maintaining safety and security measures to protect the workers at worksites.
