Pakistan Minister praises Qatar’s  commitment to countering terrorism
Minister of Development Planning and Statistics H E Dr Saleh Mohamed Salim Al Nabit with Ihsan Iqbal, Minister of Interior and Minister of Planning and Development of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the accompanying delegation. The meeting also discussed issues of mutual interest and ways of enhancing and developing them.


Minister of Interior the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Ahsan Iqbal said that Qatar’s hosting of the First Major Event Safety and Security Conference reflects the country’s commitment to combatting terrorism in all its forms and the threat it makes to major international events. Speaking to QNA, he said the event clearly showed the very strong commitment of Qatar to combat terrorism, which is a worldwide phenomenon that the international community must work together to face regardless of its form or source. He said Qatar has taken a very good initiative of bringing together experts from different part of the world to hold this conference, which helped him gain new insights on the topic.
He also praised Qatar’s development in recent years, adding that the visit helped him see firsthand the strong foundation Qatar has placed in the education sector and the effort the country is making to modernise its economy. He praised those achievements which he said were are a result of the impressive vision of Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, adding that the developmental accomplishments made under the leadership of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was a continuation of the efforts to build a modern state. He expressed his confidence that Qatar will host a special 2022 World Cup, which will reflect well on the region as a whole.
On bilateral cooperation, he said that they were at a high level already but expressed his country’s commitment to enhancing them further by sharing expertise in the security and management of international events.
