The “Aldeia dos Anjos” dance group from Brazil performs at the second Cultural Diversity Festival at Katara Amphitheatre, yesterday.
Artistes from Brazil and UK enthralled the audience at Katara Amphitheatre last Saturday and yesterday night as they performed at the second Cultural Diversity Festival organised by the Cultural Village Foundation in cooperation with the Unesco office in Doha.
The Brazilian “Aldeia dos Anjos” dance group was applauded by the audiences, as the performers staged Latin American beat that conveyed various cultural elements representing different regions in Brazil. The traditional dance troupe presented themes inspired by nature-life in Brazil in their colourful traditional costumes. It is noteworthy that the troupe is the most renowned folkloric group in Brazil, having been the 11-time Champion of the ENART- Meeting of Arts and Traditions- which is the biggest annual competitive dance festival in America that gathers over 200 dance groups. Also, the troupe participated in several worldwide festivals in Europe, Turkey, China, Canada, United States, Argentina and South Korea, among others.
The ‘Celtic Massed Pipes and Drums’ performers from the UK captivated the audience with British tunes and rhythmic moves. The Celtic Massed Pipes and Drums is an international creative union of musicians from European countries who are linked by a common history. The band was established in 2016 to perform at the Spasskaya Tower Festival under the supervision of the Founder and Head of the Band, David Johnston, who belonged to the British Army Band.
Folkloric performances from Ethiopia and Iran are scheduled on October 15 and 16 at Katara Amphitheatre.
