Ehsan Centre to launch awareness campaign on Alzheimer’s

Doha: The Elderly Empowerment and Care Centre “Ehsan” prepares to launch an awareness campaign to mark the World Alzheimer’s Day, which is celebrated annually on September 21. 

The campaign titled “Let’s talk about Alzheimer’s” will be launched through the Centre’s social media platforms, with the aim of raising awareness about this disease, its causes, symptoms, stages and methods of prevention, in addition to the most important instructions for dealing with an Alzheimer’s patient.

The campaign aims to educate the community about Alzheimer’s disease and highlight the most important guidelines and educational advice to deal with it and prevent it. It seeks to involve all community members to highlight the importance of caring for the elderly and identifying their most important social and medical needs and rights.

‏The awareness campaign includes a set of activities that will be held through live broadcast via Instagram in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs to broadcast a meeting with Sheikh Ahmed Al Farajabi, a Sharia expert at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and a family adviser in the Islamic Network.

 The session will be presented by journalist Ahmed Al Jarbi and will discuss religious aspects related to Alzheimer’s disease in light of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. It will also include a discussion with Salem Al Anzi, head of the psychological care unit at Ehsan Centre, and will be moderated by journalist Ahmed Al Maliki to talk about the psychological state of Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers in light of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

‏Moreover, in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation, Buthaina Abdul Jalil will interview Dr. Hanadi Al Hamad, Medical Director of Rumaila Hospital and Qatar Rehabilitation Centre and Director of the Elderly and Long-Term Care Department at Hamad Medical Corporation, to talk about the state’s efforts to care for Alzheimer’s patients in light of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

‏The campaign will include awareness messages that will be broadcast on Ehsan Centre’s social media platforms.

‏On this occasion, Mubarak bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Executive Director of Ehsan Centre, said: “Every year in September 21, we celebrate this day with awareness activities for all age groups in the community. This year’s campaign carries the title “ Let’s talk about Alzheimer’s disease” as Ehsan seeks to improve awareness about this disease.
