Cyber Security course begins at Qatar Media Centre

Doha: A cyber security course began yesterday organised by the Qatar Media Centre in cooperation with the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA).

The course addresses enhancing cyber awareness in light of digital transformation and the use of social media and the resulting increase of cyber threats in their many and various forms. The course aims to enhance cyber safety procedures for young people, develop participants’ skills in preserving personal data, and develop cyber capabilities.

Ishraq Al Hazbi, a cyber security trainer at the NCSA, theoretically presented the concept of cyber security and protecting systems, networks, and programmes against digital attacks.

She noted that the most important impacts of cyberattacks such as loss of credibility, unavailability of services, financial losses, data theft, and digital identity theft.

She stressed the importance of keeping personal or institutional data confidential.

Al Hazbi also presented several applied programmes on how to identify accounts that have been hacked, unlock passwords, and more.

Director of the Qatari Media Centre Iman Al Kaabi stated to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the course, which suits people aged 18 to 22, is part of the programmes offered by the Centre during the summer. Al Kaabi explained that it holds great importance in keeping up with the use of social media, protecting accounts and privacy, and not falling for links coming from suspicious sources that can lead to accounts being hacked. 

She said that the centre will offer a specialised three-day course on the art of public speaking starting July 15, followed by a training workshop on professional phone photography from July 23 to 25. The summer season is set to conclude with a training course on the role of creating visual content on social media platforms from July 29 until the end of the month.
