Avant-garde paintings by leading Romanian artist Bogdan Lascar are on display at his first major solo exhibition which recently opened in Katara. Presented by Katara in cooperation with the Romanian Embassy, “Neurophysiologic Shapings” features stunning thought-provoking artworks of a new art concept Lascar has founded.
Lascars’ abstract paintings are arresting and haunting as human figures, horses and cars among others are embedded in flowing colours.
He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest, Romania with main focus on sculpture, graphic design and film.
His artistic style has been influenced mainly by the 1989 Romanian revolution which marked the end of communist rule in his country in addition to his family with a father who worked as a doctor and a grandfather who was a sculptor.
In 2005 Lascar was awarded the Unesco Gold Medal for outstanding contribution towards advancing the arts for his revolutionary art concept. His work is part of public and private collections internationally.
The exhibition is open to the public until June 15 at Katara Building 18 Gallery 2. The Peninsula
