“I made some little adjustments in my suspension that I tried on the last track day. In the free practice, I used the first alignment and in the qualifying I tried the second one and it was much better so I reduced more than one second the laptimenand the car is more stable. The gap between Talal is more than one minute so I think it will be fine for tomorrow race. I am happy with my car and result despite the windy weather and the sand that is not good for the grip of the tyres,” Abdulla said.
Talal Wehbe, took second place of the grid, with a time of 2.25.047.
The Lotus driver is second in the standings with 33 points, only three points less than Abdulla.
“I had to work hard on the set up of the car and I didn’t had enough time to do it properly. There is a lot of wind that is why my speed was very bad at the end so I cannot push much, but I improved from my practice and I qualified second. My main concern is to beat Abdulaziz to get the championship,” Talal said.
Pavel Nedobity made the third best time in the qualifying session with his Lotus car said: “The conditions are very different from last rounds with this sandstorm, but it is the same for all drivers so we have to adapt. I am quite comfortable as I didn’t had the best tires for today and my time is not too bad, so I hope it will be better.”
