Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting community partnerships that promote environmental awareness and strengthen a culture of sustainability in society.

This comes through its collaboration with the A Flower Each Spring Programme, one of Qatar’s leading environmental initiatives that combines community education with the preservation of natural resources.

The announcement was made during a recent press conference held at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Endowments.

The partnership reflects an integrated model in which endowment work supports environmental and educational initiatives, contributing to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly environmental education, ecosystem protection, and the development of a society that is more aware of its responsibilities toward the environment and future generations.

Eng Hassan bin Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director General of the General Directorate of Endowments, expressed pride in the longstanding partnership with the “A Flower Each Spring” Programme, describing it as a distinctive model for activating the role of endowments in supporting environmental awareness and sustainability. He explained that the cooperation aligns with the wishes of donors whose endowment revenues are allocated to serve society and preserve natural resources through the Family and Childhood Endowment Fund.

Al Marzouqi noted that the fund works to support the educational and social environment of children through initiatives that promote values and raise awareness among younger generations. The collaboration with the “A Flower Each Spring” Program helps instill environmentally responsible behavior among children and youth through various educational and field activities. These efforts, he added, contribute to building a generation that is conscious and responsible, while strengthening family bonds and supporting the mission of endowments in serving families, society, and future generations.

He also highlighted that 2025 witnessed significant expansion in the programme’s activities, with a total of 10,522 participants from various segments of society taking part in its initiatives, in addition to a summer activity organised by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. The programme also included tree-planting and biodiversity initiatives aimed at enhancing vegetation cover and protecting biodiversity.

For his part, Dr. Saif bin Ali Al Hajri, Chairman of the Friends of the Environment Center and head of the “A Flower Each Spring” Programme Committee, said that the support provided by the General Directorate of Endowments contributes to implementing a range of environmental awareness programs. These include the “Green Tent” program, childhood and environment initiatives, and field activities associated with the program.

He explained that these initiatives target multiple segments of society, including children aged 4 to 12, as well as researchers, experts, and environmental enthusiasts. The program aims to strengthen the relationship between people and nature by introducing the community to native plants and encouraging photographers, artists, and nature lovers to document and celebrate them, thereby promoting a culture of environmental preservation and transforming it into positive behaviour within society.
