DOHA The “Best Buddies Qatar” initiative, in collaboration with Microsoft Qatar, recently held a training programme for its members to equip them with skills in artificial intelligence, data entry, and other computer-based technologies.
This training programme is part of the initiatives efforts to empower individuals with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, aged 18 and above, who are seeking employment. It forms part of a broader effort to help members prepare for the job market and demonstrate their abilities in a way that makes them suitable candidates for future roles. This is also supported by community partnerships with both public and private institutions.
Founded in 2008, “Best Buddies Qatar” is one of the most significant initiatives dedicated to improving lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The initiative seeks to enhance their quality of life, break their social isolation, and integrate them into the community.
“Best Buddies Qatar” was launched under the umbrella of Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities and Qatar Foundation for Social Work, with the goal of ending social isolation of individuals with intellectual disabilities and integrating them into all areas of public life.
