Hamid Hamidoglu with his book.
Doha: Hamid Hamidoglu, a mathematics teacher and academic Olympiad coordinator at ACS International School Doha, has released a new book on Amazon titled ‘Mathematics Stories with Extended Solutions’.
The book is designed to inspire students to love mathematics by incorporating engaging stories and real-life problems.
Featuring 90 questions with comprehensive solutions, each question has its own story to capture students’ attention. This resource is ideal for anyone struggling with word problems, with questions of varying levels to accommodate different grade levels.
The book aims to help students overcome their anxiety towards mathematics and foster a positive attitude towards learning.
In addition to the word problems, the book covers topics in Numbers, Algebra, and Geometry, and provides helpful teaching strategies for instructors. The story-based word problems encourage logical thinking and help students practice extracting information from written text.
With Hamid’s guidance, ACS International School Doha has received top accolades for their participation in the ASMA International Mathematics Olympiads and the AMC Math Olympiads. The school is also the first to administer AMC in Qatar since 2021, as part of MAA’s American Mathematics Competitions programme, which aims to enhance the mathematical capabilities of the next generation of problem-solvers.
“I wanted to share my knowledge with students worldwide. Writing an enjoyable mathematics book can change the way students view mathematics,” said Hamid. Hamid is currently working on a new book, an IBDP Mathematics Practice book, to support IB students in their external exams.
