Indonesian expats raise funds for quake victims

Indonesians in Qatar have launched a fund-raising initiative for victims of the 6.5 magnitude earthquake, which struck Sumatra Island on December 7.
Indonesian Ambassador  to Qatar Muhammed Basri Sidehabi, recently offered his condolences to earthquake victims. He was addressing a gathering  commemorating 17th anniversary Indonesian Women Assosiation (DWP).
The fundraising has been coordinated by DWP Chairperson, Andi Una in cooperation with the Indonesian Community in Qatar (Permiqa).
“This is to show our condolences and sympathy to the quake-stricken people of Aceh,” said wife of Ambassador Sidehabi. There are around 52 Indonesian Community Organisations under the aegis of Permiqa which oversees around 40,000 Indonesians in Qatar.
Permiqa Chairman, Edwin Kurniawan said various activities have been launched to lessen burden on victim of Aceh Disaster. This will be  coordinated by the Infak Sadakah Qatar Zakat (ZISQatar) agency and Imsqa-Permiqa.
