Doha: Crowell & Moring recently marked its first anniversary in Doha with a reception held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Clients and guests joined together to celebrate the firm opening its regional hub last year in West Bay.

The event was attended by several international representatives including H E Jon Wilks, British Ambassador to Qatar, and Meghan Schildgen, Senior Commercial Officer at the US Embassy in Doha.

The event also coincided with the firm’s senior leadership visit to Qatar. As part of the visit, the leaders met with key clients from a range of industries including the government sector, corporate, education, transportation, and real estate.

“I am thrilled to see the way our Doha office has taken off over the past year,” said Philip T. Inglima, Chair of Crowell & Moring, who attended the reception. “Qatar is a strong and strategic centre for the expansion of our global infrastructure practice and plays to our strengths in government contracts, international dispute resolution, project development, and regulatory counsel,” he added.

Over the past year, the Doha office has engaged more than 100 new clients; received the LexisNexis 2021 Qatar Practical Guidance Award; launched an internship program with its first Qatari intern; and held a series of informative webinars for key organisations in Doha.

“I am proud of what the team in Doha has achieved within our first year,” said Charbel Maakaron, Managing Partner of Crowell & Moring’s Doha office. “All of these achievements are a testament to Crowell & Moring’s commitment to Qatar and its efforts to position the nation as a thriving business hub in the region,” he added.

Other members of the firm’s leadership team joined the firm’s celebrations, including Robert Weekes, Managing Partner of the firm’s London office, and Stephen McBrady, Co-chair of the firm’s Government Contracts Group.
