Doha: In keeping with its role to bring sports enthusiasts new, fun and challenging competitions all year-round, Aspire Zone Foundation is organising the first ‘Aspire Park Run Challenge’ to give recreational runners over the age of 12 a chance to test their speed and stamina in 3-6K races against Aspire Academy’s world-class athletes.
The race will be held on two separate days in Aspire Park, behind the Coffeeshop Company. The first will take place this Saturday, November 11, from 7:30 am and the second race will be held on December 2.
Commenting on the event, Nasser Abdullah Al-Hajri, Director of PR and Communications at AZF, said: "Aspire Zone always looks to diversify its community events to cater to all sports enthusiasts in Qatar and give them a chance to take part in their favourite sport. This event builds on the success of previous professional tournaments in Aspire Zone, such as the IAU 50 KM World Championship and the Aspire International 6:50 Race, which reflects the growing interests in running within the community in Qatar. The races are open for anyone above the age of 12, so friends and family members can make a fun family day out of it.
“The participation of Aspire Academy’s student-athletes makes the race more challenging and exciting. Recreational runners will be inspired and encouraged to push their limits and really test their potential when they see themselves competing alongside professional athletes.”
