Qatari delegation led by Dr. Abdullah Yousuf Al Mal, Adviser to the Minister of Interior, during the high-level international conference in the Austrian capital Vienna on “Education for the Rule of Law”.
The State of Qatar participated yesterday in the high-level international conference held in the Austrian capital Vienna on “Education for the Rule of Law”, which is one of the components of the global programme for the implementation of the Doha Declaration of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
The delegation of the State of Qatar was led by Dr. Abdullah Yousuf Al Mal, Adviser to the Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Follow-up Committee on the Implementation of the Global Program of the Doha Declaration, and included a number of officials from the State.
The first session of the Conference discussed the international framework for education in the rule of law, its importance and usefulness to Member States and the international community.
In his address during the Conference, Dr. Abdullah Youssef Al Mal confirmed Qatar’s keenness to lay certain bases for the implementation of the Doha Declaration through generous donations from His Highness the Amir of the State following the agreement between the committee supervising the conference and the United Nations Office on Crime and Drugs to put the Doha Declaration into effect.
During his speech, Major General Yousuf Al Mal thanked the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for the four-year effort to implement the Doha Declaration. He added that the State of Qatar has a long experience in the field of education, especially considering the many initiatives of H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, which inspire the international community with its initiatives for education and disadvantaged children.
“This meeting is intended to focus on the fourth and sixteenth objectives of sustainable development, and we are discussing with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime after the success of the current phase of the implementation of the Doha Declaration in extending the Doha Declaration to Doha 2. We hope that the discussions will bear fruit, and we hope that we will benefit from the presence of this group of education officials and high-level officials from the countries of the world at this meeting.” He added.
During the high-level opening session, a number of themes were addressed.
