Ooredoo supports Microsoft’s Qatar datacentre region launch

Doha: Ooredoo, leading national ICT services provider, was the Partner and Sponsor of the Microsoft Qatar Datacenter Region launch event, a celebration entitled “Qatar’s Digital Journey into the Future” which was hosted by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Microsoft at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl, Doha recently.

Microsoft’s new Azure cloud region is now open for organisations and businesses in Qatar of all sizes and across all industries wishing to store their data in Qatar, paving the way for new possibilities and innovation with a strong focus on privacy and data security.

To mark the major milestone, the event was held under the patronage of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology H E Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, in the presence of other esteemed Ministers and high-level private sector executives as well as strong representation from Microsoft global and regional executives. It included keynote speeches from MCIT and Microsoft, in addition to technology showcases, panel discussions and the highlighting of Qatar’s digital transformation success stories from various public sector and private sector organisations.

Thani Ali Al Malki, Executive Director Business at Ooredoo said: “I am delighted and proud that Ooredoo partnered with Microsoft on this launch, which fits within our strategic plan to drive acceleration of efforts to implement Qatar’s digital transformation agenda and support the building of a knowledge-based economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
