DOHA: Five charity organisations have set up four tents to serve iftar meals daily for up to 2,000 people who are fasting during Ramadan.
Sheikh Eid Charity, RAF, Qatar Red Crescent, Qatar Charity and Islamic Calling Organisation Qatar have donated QR150,000 each for the project.
Called “Maidat-Hal-Qatar” (community feast), the project is an initiative of Sheikh Eid Charity to be organised in cooperation with the other four charity organizations.
“After thorough study we have decided to set up the four tents adjacent to the mosque at Souq Al Attiyah where we expect to receive from 1,200 to 1,500 people daily which might reach 2,000,” said Adil Al Baker, a representative of Qatar Red Crescent, said at a recent press conference.
The tents are all ready and a joint committee has been set up to supervise the management of the tents.
