Doha: General Directorate of Civil Defense stressed the importance of the early warning system in responding quickly to reports of fires, thefts and others, and limiting the damage caused by them, especially in high-risk facilities.
The early warning system is one of the most advanced systems in the field of safety procedures, due to its contribution to the rapid detection of fire, thefts and others, which helps in the process of response and control.
Director of the Prevention Department at the General Directorate of Civil Defense Captain Ahmed Khaled Al Ghanim said that according to the law, some facilities, buildings and institutions should be equipped with an early warning system to detect fires, thefts and other accidents and is connected to the central operations room of the Ministry of Interior.
The system has many advantages and features, including very accurate information about the type and location of an institution or company and reporting a fire within seconds, which automatically informs the operations room at the Ministry of Interior first, then the Civil Defense. Periodic maintenance is also carried out to ensure safety and the absence of system malfunctions, as well as the possibility of providing SMS and e-mail services to persons concerned with companies and institutions when the accident occurs to ensure the ability to communicate, Captain Al Ghanim added.
He said that the system can be used in companies, institutions, hotels, banks, shopping complexes, entertainment centers, hotel apartments and other high risk facilities.
On the way the system works, the Director of the Prevention Department pointed out that when an emergency occurs, an automatic alarm is triggered in the operations room at the Ministry of Interior, with details of the location of the accident and the ways and means that can be used to reach the scene on an electronic map. This allows police cars or civil defense vehicles to be dispatched quickly.
The system also sends a text message to the person in charge of the building informing them of the presence of an alarm. At the same time, the observer in the operations room can, through the same system, contact the building official and ask them to go to the scene of the accident to help police and civil defense personnel and provide the required information, added Captain Al Ghanim
