UAE announces destruction of 16 ballistic missiles and 113 Iranian drones

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates announced that its air defenses detected 17 ballistic missiles on Sunday, 16 of which were destroyed, while one missile fell into the sea.

In a statement, UAE Ministry of Defense said that 117 drones were also detected, 113 of which were intercepted, while four fell within the country’s territory.

The ministry noted that since the start of the Iranian attack, 238 ballistic missiles have been detected, of which 221 were destroyed, while 15 fell into the sea and two landed within the country's territory. It added that 1,422 Iranian drones were detected, 1,342 of which were intercepted, while 80 fell within the country. It also reported that eight cruise missiles were detected and destroyed.

The ministry said the attacks resulted in four fatalities of Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh nationalities, as well as 112 people sustaining moderate and minor injuries from multiple nationalities, including citizens of UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, and Turkiye.

The UAE Ministry of Defense affirmed that it remains fully prepared and ready to address any threats and will firmly confront any attempts to undermine the country's security, ensuring protection of its sovereignty, stability, and national interests.
