Doha: President of the International Motorcycle Federation, (FIM) Jorge Viegas praised the distinguished organization of the Grand Prix of Qatar, the first round of the MotoGP World Championship took place at the flood-lit Losail International Circuit.
In a press statement on the sidelines of the closing day, Viegas said that the Qatar Grand Prix was successful, both in organisational and technical terms, and it is not strange for the Qatar Federation, which is hosting this tour for the twentieth time.
He added that the successes achieved by Qatar in hosting the world’s most prominent motorcycle championships made it a distinguished sports destination and a magnet for athletes, not only in cycling, but in various sports.
The FIM President stated that the 20th edition of the Qatar Grand Prix appeared in a distinctive way, especially with regard to the arrangements and facilities for the teams and riders, which made the technical competitions come out strong.
Viegas indicated that there is great coordination between the International and Qatar Federations in order to discuss more cooperation and plans to develop the circuit and the upcoming championships, and in this regard, the Qatar Federation will construct a new tower for racing.
Viegas also praised young Qatari rider Hamad Al Sahouti who achieved second place in the Asian Talent Cup race, adding that he is a champion in the making.
Meanwhile, the President of the Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and Lusail Circuit Sports Club, Abdul Rahman Al Mannai, also praised the great success of the Qatar Grand Prix.
Al Mannai said that the event was remarkably successful, especially in light of the great competition between the most prominent riders in the world.
The QMMF President thanked all those who supported the success of the Qatar Grand Prix, especially Qatar Tourism, which greatly contributed to the promotion of the event.
