Doha: The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN), one of the centres affiliated with Qatar Social Work Foundation, organised yesterday a workshop on empowering women entitled “Be Confident,” as part of the events and activities in occasion of the International Women’s Day held annually on March 8.

The workshop discussed the image of woman in the Arab media, as well as the strategies that can be adopted through the media in order to enhance her image, and commensurate with her current situation.

Acting Executive Director of AMAN Center, Abdulaziz Al Ishaq, said in statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that the celebration of International Women’s Day is an opportunity to learn about the efforts made by women in various countries of the world at different levels pointing out to the activities carried out by the centre throughout the week in celebration of the event, where many awareness films and video materials for this occasion have been played.

Al Ishaq pointed out that the workshops will issue recommendations and proposals that the AMAN Center will work on embodying, noting that the centre will soon launch a prize for women on its International Day, especially as it is working on submitting a proposed law to protect women and children from violence in cooperation with several authorities in the country.

He also mentioned that the family rift is problematic in itself due to the multiplicity of cases, especially in light of seeking to cooperate with the Supreme Judicial Council, represented by the Family Court, with the aim of enacting a special law for children and a special law for women in the State of Qatar.

For his part, the consultant in the Protection Department Dr. Salah Al-Mannai, said that AMAN Center is keen to listen and benefit from all active community experiences, indicating that “Be Confident” women’s empowerment workshop is a motivational workshop that pushes women to move forward, because motivation is considered as one of the most important factors for the success of personal and professional life, and a necessary component of performance excellence.

For her part, the Director of Media & Communication Department at AMAN Center Hanan Al Ali, said that empowering women enhances their active and positive integration into society, giving them greater opportunities for success at all levels, and supporting their participation and involvement in practical and cultural life.
