Tokyo: Qatar is committed to maintaining its long-term relationship, reputation and world confidence as a reliable LNG supplier and will always be supporting its partners, the Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada said here.
In a speech before the 3rd LNG Producer-Consumer Conference, currently held here, Al Sada emphasised the importance of Qatari-Japanese cooperation in the field of liquified natural gas (LNG), especially as Qatar is Japan’s second largest LNG supplier.
The Minister said that the biggest challenge facing the natural gas industry is how to develop the resources in a volatile environment and amid variation in perceptions of consumers and producers about how to ensure the stability of the markets in the long term. LNG contracts must mainly consider balanced contractual terms to ensure stable supply for consumers and security of demand for producers, he said.
Al Sada arrived on Wednesday in Tokyo for a three-day official visit, heading the Qatari delegation to the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the Qatar-Japan Joint Economic Committee and to the 3rd LNG Producer-Consumer Conference. During the 8th Ministerial meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the efforts to upgrade their cooperation to “Comprehensive Partnership”.
