Qatar coach Felix Sanchez is pleased with the way his players fought against Brazil in an international friendly yesterday.
Qatar conceded two goals in the first half of a 2-0 loss but produced attacking football in the second half.
“Qatar played an attacking game against a Brazil with great players. Those players play for great clubs in Europe,” Sanchez said after the match.
“They have players like Dani Alves, Neymar Jr, Gabriel Jesus and others. This was an important match for us as we prepare for the Copa America,” the Spaniard said.
“In the long run, this was a great match for us since we are preparing for the 2022 FIFA World Cup,” he said in his remarks after the game.
“We were able to keep pace with the Brazilian team at times during the first half, and our team played well in the second half. I think we got many positives out of this match,” Sanchez said.
“The players have gained a lot of experience from this encounter, which will give them a moral boost in the upcoming matches in Copa America, where we will play in a very difficult group,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez wished Neymar a ‘speedy recovery’ after the Brazilian striker - who plays for PSG - suffered an ankle injury in the same clash played at Mane Garrincha Stadium.
Qatar, who arrived in Brazil more than a week ago, will now prepare for a friendly against a local club on June 9.
