2022 will be the best: Qatari envoy to US
Washington DC: Qatar is ready to invest part of its $35bn US investment fund in West Virginia, Qatari Ambassador to the US Mohamed Jaham Al Kuwari said on the sidelines of a visit to the state. He said Qatar has pledged $50,000 for a project in West Virginia to improve education in McDowell County, noting that he will bring a group of Qatari investors and businessmen to the state in September to listen to investment proposals.
Al Kuwari said Qatari investors are interested in investing in tourism, real estate, education and energy, stressing that he held talks with the business community in West Virginia.
He invited Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and business society representatives to visit Doha.
Qatar has recently opened an investment office in New York.
Asked about investigation into FIFA corruption charges, Al Kuwari said Qatar is open to any probe because “we did the right thing... We have nothing to fear. “We will show to the whole world that Qatar World Cup will be the best in the world,” he said, adding preparations have started and all facilities will be ready two or three years before the tournament.
