Rome - Rome's main airport was closed Thursday after a fire broke out overnight in its main terminal for international flights.
No casualties were reported after the blaze took hold around 5:00 am (0300 GMT) but several airport employees were suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation, Rome's airport body Adr said in a statement.
Three hours later the airport was completely sealed off and all flights up until 2:00 pm (1200 GMT) were cancelled.
There was no immediate indication of the cause of the fire.
