The State of Qatar has participated in the 43rd meeting of the GCC Standardization Organization, held yesterday exceptionally via video conference.
Qatar was represented at this meeting by the Chairman of Qatar Standardization Organization, Eng. Mohammed bin Saud Al Musallam.
The meeting discussed a number of important issues, including the Memorandum of the Presidency of Standardization regarding the speech of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council on facilitating and importing goods and their flow among the GCC countries.
The meeting was held according to the directives of the first extraordinary meeting of their Excellencies, the ministers of commerce in the GCC countries on the second of April 2, to discuss the economic repercussions of the new coronavirus on the GCC countries, where they instructed the Standardization Organization to hold an urgent meeting to discuss facilitating and importing goods and its flow among the GCC countries in terms of excluding some of the specifications requirements during the current stage, bearing in mind that the recommendations of today’s meeting will be discussed during a meeting to be held by GCC countries commerce undersecretaries, and representatives of the ministries of commerce later.
