Bazm e Urdu Qatar (BUQ) organised an Annual Nazmia Mushaira (recital of Urdu poetry ) on topic “Ishq” (love) at Deccan Hall off Rayan Road recently.
Bazm e Urdu President and poet Syed Faheemuddin, author of five poetry books, presided over the event. Qatar University professor Dr Rizwan Ahmed was the chief guest and Founder of Jamia Milia Alumnai Qatar Najmul Hasan Khan, was the Guest of Honour.
After an introduction by Genral secretary Ahmed Ashfaq, Chairman Amjad Ali Sarwar welcomed the guests. Mushaira session was convened by Assistant Media Secretary and poet Athar Azmi.
Three poets including Mumtaz Rashid from Lahore, Pakistan and Qatar-based poet Nadeem Mahir sent their contibutions through email. Poets participated in the event were: Amjad Ali Sarwar, Shaukat Ali Naaz, Aziz Nabeel, Syed Faheemud Din, Shafiq Akhtar, Ahmad Ashfaque, Athar Azmi, Faizi Azmi, Athar Zia Tahir Jamil, Raquim Azmi and Hafiz Abu Hamza.
The Guest of Honour appreciated the organisers for holding such an event.
The Chief Guest Dr Rizwan was impressed by the standard of poetries on love.
Shaukat Ali Naz, Advisor, Bazm e Urdu, proposed the vote of thanks. Gifts of books from Faheemuddin were presented by Bazm’s Patron Bilal Ahmed khan to Chief Guest, Guest of honor and Nazim e Mushaira. Dr Tausif Hashmi and Khalid Dad Khan, President Anjuman e Mohiban e Urdu Hind, also attended the session.
