Doha: The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) and the Bangladesh Investment Summit Group signed an MoU yesterday at The St. Regis Doha to increase joint collaboration in investing in the power and energy sector in Bangladesh. The agreement signing was witnessed by the honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Yousuf Al Jaida, CEO, QFC.
The event also had a high level panel discussion moderated by Dr. Shiban Khan, AVP, Bangladesh Forum Qatar, participated by Sheikha Alanoud bint Hamad Al-Thani- DCEO QFC, Retaj Group CEO, Mohammad Ghofrane, and Sara Daniel, CEO, Doha Tech Angel (DTA) from Qatar side and Ayesha Aziz, Director Summit Power Group, Uzma Khan, Director Pran-RFL Group, and Tapan Kanti Shaha, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Commerce from Bangladesh side.
All the panelist highlighted different aspects of investment opportunities in Bangladesh. It was also proposed by the panelists to form a Qatar-Bangladesh joint business forum to formulate strategies to enhance the relationship to the next level. All the panelists agreed that both Qatar and Bangladesh can develop an unique complementary relationship where both countries can mutually benefit of capital flow and potential consumer market of 160 Million people.
During the event, Bangladesh Forum Qatar (BFQ) members handed over a special memento to the Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina.Bangladesh Forum Qatar (BFQ) registered under Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) in association with Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority have organized an Investment Summit titled ‘The Rise of Bengal Tiger: Potentials of Trade & Investment in Bangladesh’ in Doha, Qatar on March 06, 2023. The Investment Summit is to showcase Bangladesh Capital markets and Trade & Investment opportunities in Bangladesh to the global investors in different countries. The prime agenda of this event was to portray Bangladesh as an attractive place for foreign investment.
The Prime Minister H E Sheikh Hasina graced the occasion as Chief Guest and delivered her valuable insights highlighting the tremendous success over last 15 years under her visionary leadership. She also addressed the Qatari Investors to explore Bangladesh as their next investment destination and assured her government’s all out support for facilitating with all necessary infrastructures.
H E Sultan Bin Rashid Al Khater, The Undersecretary of The Ministry of Commerce and Industry was the Guest of Honor, and Yousuf Mohamed Al Jaidah, CEO of Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) was the special guest. Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman, Qatar Businessmen Association, Sheikha Alanaoud Al Thani, Deputy CEO of Qatar Financial Centre, Sheikh Saoud Abdur Rahman Al Thani, Mr Khalid Jabor Tawar Al Kuwari and Dr Khalid Al Hajiri, Board Member, Qatar Chamber Of Commerce along with other Qatari organization’s leaders were present in the event.
Dignitaries including Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, MP, Foreign Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Tipu Munshi, MP, Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Chairman (Senior Secretary), Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), were also present in the event.
