Doha: A number of businesses in Qatar have announced that they will be donating some of their earnings to the victims of the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkiye, according to Qatar Charity.
The Mhammar Aal Faham restaurant announced it would be donating 100% of its Tuesday, February 7, earnings towards an ongoing relief campaign for those affected by the earthquake in both Syria and Turkiye.
Similarly, Soleil Boutique Msheireb had also pledged 100% of its Tuesday earnings towards the same campaign, while Sugar and Spice revealed they would be allocating a percentage of their profit towards relief efforts.
The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced earlier today that it had allocated 4,800 food parcels from its mission’s stock to be urgently distributed to the affected families in northern Syria.
On the other hand, QRCS also revealed it was allocating a contingency stock of ready-for-shipment relief aid to Turkiye, which consists of 2,250 heavy blankets, 2,750 light blankets, 1,000 jerrycans, 3,000 mosquito nets, 2,000 tarpaulins, 500 shelter kits containing maintenance tools, and 1,360 family hygiene kits.
On Monday, February 6, 2023, Türkiye and Syria both experienced powerful quakes that have claimed over 5,000 lives in both countries at the time of writing this report.
The national embassies of Syria and Türkiye in the Qatari capital Doha have also lowered their flags to half-mast to mourn the loss of lives due to the earthquakes.
