Ottawa: Canada posted a C$644m ($544m) trade deficit in November, as exports to the United States and Britain fell dramatically, the government statistical agency said Wednesday.
Statistics Canada also revised downward a nearly C$100m ($85m) surplus the previous month to a C$327m ($276m) deficit. Analysts had been expecting a C$200m ($169m) deficit for November.
According to Statistics Canada, exports to the United States — Canada’s largest trading partner — decreased 2.6 percent to C$32.9bn ($27.8bn) in the month.
Britain led a drop in exports to other countries, down C$787m ($665m). The decline was partially offset by increased exports to Mexico and Hong Kong.
