Doha, Qatar: Hamad, Ruwais and Doha ports have demonstrated strong performance over the past nine months (January to September), underscoring their vital role in supporting the national economy.

In a post on its X platform, Mwani Qatar stated, “During this period, the ports handled 1.11 million containers, up nearly 2 percent compared to the same period last year, over 1.34 million tons of general and bulk cargo, more than 91,000 Roll-on/Roll-off (RORO) units, and 488,000 tons of building materials, marking a remarkable 136 percent increase.”

“In total, 2,276 vessels were received, up 11 percent, while transshipment cargo grew by approximately 7 percent year-on-year, reinforcing Hamad Port as a key regional hub for re-export,” it added.

These ports serve as an effective link between markets in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and America, contributing to reducing cargo transit time and improving the efficiency of supply chains. Qatar’s ports also support the country’s plan to diversify the economy by facilitating export and re-export operations, enhancing the ability of local industries to access foreign markets, and promoting maritime tourism.

The three ports handled 1,110,980 TEUs containers, 1,344,373 tonnes of general and bulk cargo from January to September of 2025.

During the first nine months of this year the three ports received 2,276 vessels. Meanwhile, the ports handled 91,266 RORO units, 403,868 heads of livestock and 488,069 tonnes of building materials in the review period.

Recently, Qatar’s main gateway to the world trade, Hamad Port marked a new milestone by being ranked first in the Gulf region for the first time and 11th worldwide in the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2024 issued by the World Bank in collaboration with S&P Global Market Intelligence.

This distinguished ranking serves as global recognition of Hamad Port’s exceptional operational efficiency and high performance, reinforcing Qatar’s standing as a key regional hub for trade and logistics. It also highlights the port’s critical role in driving the nation’s economic growth, positioning it as a strategic link in global supply chains and a trusted transshipment hub in the region.

Hamad Port’s strong performance reflects the advanced infrastructure, modern technologies, and premium services it provides. The port’s cutting-edge infrastructure, automated systems, and scalable design enable the rapid handling of diverse cargo types, including containers, bulk and general cargo, and RORO operations.
