DOHA: The demand for tents is growing as the camping season starts from October 18, in less than two weeks. Stores selling tents that are taken to the desert, say their prices range from QR6,000 to 12,000.
According to shops selling tents, prices haven’t varied in comparison to last year. Ibrahim Abdulah Al Jaida, owner of a tent shop, said that sales have grown because the season is going to start. Customers are mainly youngsters who are very enthusiastic about enjoying natural landscape.
People buy mostly tents with the following sizes: four by four, four by five and five by five. Some people purchase six by six and five by eight tents as well. At least one customer bought three tents of different sizes. These customers use the small ones for storage, the second one for sleeping and the third one to gather the family and watch television.
Patrons have less space to place their camp, in comparison to last season. Experts say that the best quality tents are from Pakistan. While other materials tear easily, this type can be put away after every season and used for several years. Nevertheless, customers select also other types, such as plastic or regular, among others.
Sales manager Al Jabarti added that tents in high demand are the four by six royal tent, which costs QR2,800, and the PBC tent, which is waterproof. The PBC is in high demand because it is easy to set up and store and light to transport.
