DOHA: Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman) yesterday concluded awareness campaign about the recently launched ‘Help Me’ a mobile app that enables children to call for help on mobile in case of any emergency help.
The application can be accessed through mobile and smart devices to help children, and provide them with the necessary protection which enables them to immediately report any abuse or violence.
A child can call for help through writing as well as through a recorded voice message. They can also document the abuse with images. The service can be easily downloaded through mobile stores and smart phones’ virtual application stores.
Several malls including Ezdan Mall, Tawar Mall, Mall of Qatar, Land Mark, Gulf Mall concluded the successful awareness campaign in which children downloaded the application on their smart phones and iPads. The campaign attracted huge number of parents and children. Parents at the campaign admired the concept of application.
On this occasion, Mansour Al Saadi, Executive Director of Aman, said: “This application emphasises on the rights of children and the aim behind this application is to keep children safe. The centre is keen to provide services to children who are in need of any type of help. Safety of children and providing them friendly environment is a goal of the centre.”
Maryam Al Malki , social consultant at Aman, said: “These types of applications help children to become bold enough to ask for help when required. There are a few cases in which children chose to be silent to open up to such issues but this campaign has made them brave enough to open up and share their experiences.”
The Aman is a private organisation for public benefit aims at empowering and rehabilitating women, girls and children victims of violence and children victims of family disintegration, and reintegrate them into the society, through the provision of protection services; such as the reception of cases in the Centres headquarter in Messila during its day and evening work hours, in addition to the provision of hotline services.
The Centre also provides legal, social and psychological consultations and works on rehabilitating the target groups through the day-care clinics and the internal-care unit.
