Doha: In a wonderful atmosphere that embodies the heritage of Qatar’s maritime heritage, and brings to mind the trips of ancestors and the glories of the era of diving, the Fath Al Khair 5 cruise was launched on Monday, with a ceremony held at Grand Hyper Marine Port in the Maltese capital Valletta.
This was attended by Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, General Manager and H E Khaled Ali Abel, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Qatar in Malta, and a large gathering of Qataris visiting Malta, in addition to a crowd of Maltese residents and tourists of Arab and foreign nationalities.
The ceremony included the ascent of the Yazwa to the deck of the Fath Al Khair 5 loader, led by the Nokhatha Muhammad Al Sada. By taking out the sail and raising the anchor of the bearer (the bawra) amid the rising voices with sea chants and grumblings until the sail rose to the top of the daql.
The Fath Al Khair 5 loader sailed from the type of Boom Saffar in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea at 6pm, towards southern Italy, where it is scheduled to cross the ports of Siciliy, Naples, Rome and Genoa, then head to the port of Monaco, Cannes and Marseille, and conclude its journey with its arrival at the port of Barcelona in Spain.
The will trip lasts about a month and a half, and ends in mid-August with its final stop in the Spanish port of Barcelona, where the cruise aims to introduce the authentic Qatari maritime heritage and promote the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Dr. Al Sulaiti expressed his pride in the launch of the Fath Al Khair 5 trip from Bandar Grand Hyper Marine in Malta, with the young captain Mohammed Al Sada and 18 young men from Al Yazwa on board, stressing the keenness of Katara to always be with Nokhatha and Yazwa on the journey in all its stages and stations.
For his part, H E Abel also expressed his happiness with the launch of the Fath Al Khair 5 journey, stressing the importance of raising the name of Qatar in all forums and ports that the trip reaches.
Meanwhile, Al Nokhatha Mohammed Al Sada, said: “The Fath Al Khair 5 journey will continue to play its prominent role in presenting Qatar as a global destination for major sports tournaments and cultural events, by introducing football fans from different Mediterranean countries to the nature of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and informing the public of the countries of Europe bordering the Mediterranean, with the giant World Cup projects set up by Qatar for this world championship.”
The cruise programme includes receiving visitors when it stops at European ports within a specific mechanism that guarantees the best results in promoting the 2022 World Cup. Brochures and introductory brochures to the public in all the ports where the loader is anchored, in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy will be given.
