DOHA: Al Arabi squad yesterday morning flew out to Slovenia for their pre-season training camp ahead of the new season that kicks off in August.
Coached by Luka Bonacic, Al Arabi will be based on Moravske Toplice until July 22.
During the training camp, Al Arabi are scheduled to play a series of friendlies.
The friendly matches will help coach Bonacic work on his starting line-up ahead of the new season.
Al Arabi, meanwhile, will also be looking to welcome their overseas players Franco Faustino Arizala of Colombia, Fahad Khalfan and Shatee Abbasi, the goalkeeper in the coming days.
Al Arabi will start the QNB Stars League season with a game against Al Khor on August 4.
Meanwhile, QNB Stars League side Al Ahli have signed Moroccan attacking midfielder Mohsen Metwalli, formerly of Al Rayyan.
Metwalli’s contract is for one season and can be extended by another year if both parties agree to it, the club said.
The new signing performed remarkably well for Al Rayyan the previous year. He now joins Yassine Chikhaoui, Al Ahli’s Tunisian midifielder.
The midfielder will continue to train with Al Ahli team mates ahead of the pre-season training camp in Austria. The training camp will last from July 7 to 27.
Coach Milan Macala is currently heading the team training sessions in Doha.
The new QNB Stars League season begins on August 4.
Last year, Al Ahli finished the regular football season in 9th spot.
